A visit from Tattlebear

Posted in Uncategorized on March 30th, 2005 by sklteach

Last night we had the pleasure of having Tattlebear in our home again. (This is Hunter’s classroom bear - each night he gets to go home with the person who falls asleep at naptime fastest.) Spidey had a wonderful time. He played in the sandbox and with Hunter’s train. He ate dinner with us and then got up happy and ready to go back to school. We are excited about Tattlebear’s visit and look forward to it again.

An accomplishment

I spoke with a parent today who has been an aggressive parent to deal with. It’s not bad she was aggressive - she just wanted what was right for her son and she and he rightly deserved it . She told me thank you today! I was so excited I almost didn’t know what to say back. She told me thank you for being the clean up crew for her son’s case and for helping him to be successful. That’s what my job is all about - one starfish at a time is my motto!

Bird Cam…

During this past Easter weekend, we discovered that a beautiful Mourning Dove has built its nest outside Hunter’s window. For the majority of Friday night, we listened to her squawk and I mean all night long; 11:00pm, 1:00am, 2:30am, 3:00am. Apparently, after peeking in the nest on Saturday, she was laying two eggs. So of course, I have to share our excitement that we will be placing a webcam back on mother nature. We installed the camera on Saturday and hope to get the web server up this week. I have approximately 10 more days before the eggs begin to hatch. Ed

Easter Dinner with the Lawrences

The food, the fun, the fellowship - It was all WONDERFUL. Thirty-seven people joined us this year for our annual Easter Dinner and Egg Hunt. It was GREAT! I must give a shout out to my husband who fried the best turkey yet. It was juicy, seasoned just right and was golden brown!

We look forward to this event every year. We love having our friends celebrating this joyful occassion with us. We are already planning for next year.

Here’s one for you….

Question from Hunter: Mommy when you got married, how did a baby get in your tummy?

My answer: We’ll ask your daddy when he gets home!

Amazement

Last night Hunter brought me a message that he had written. I was amazed when I unfolded the piece of paper and what it had on it. He had written his name (no biggie - he does this all the time), Brantley’s name, and then the names of friends from school: Christopher, Dylan, Guin, Natalie and Matthew. I was shocked that he could remember how to spell all those names and they were very plainly written. I guess those daycare dollars are paying off!

The Sandbox

It’s finally complete and already being greatly enjoyed. Ed built the kids a sandbox just beyond the edge of the yard. He filled it with 2 loads of sand. And then the fun began. Hunter ran next door and got the kids to come and play in his sand box. Hunter and Brantley both love it. I can’t however say I am loving the sand all in my house - but I am dealing with it like any good mom would.

First Pool

How sad is this. I played my first pool board today ever! It is for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship of which I know nothing about. The really sad thing is I used the last four dollars in my wallet and had to borrow another from a co-worker to enter.

Sorry, kids no new shoes for you.

Go Tar Heels!
