Kids Say The Darnest Things

Posted in Uncategorized on May 31st, 2005 by edwardelawrence

The other day, Brantley was crying for some unknown reason. And apparently Hunter was tired of listening to her. Out of the blue, Hunter says, “Brantley, cry me a river.” It was very funny. :)

Thanks to Ed, our upstairs is the cleaniest it has EVER been. Hunter’s beds have been bunked, all the carpets cleaned, new shelves put in the kids rooms, and furniture moved around. I am so glad I married a complete opposite who doesn’t proscrastinate when it comes to house work.

Yesterday our friend Wendy was asking Brantley about her day at school. I told her that Brantley had dance pictures at school yesterday. Wendy asked Brantley what type dance she was taking. Brantley responded “Ballerina Dancing”. Wendy asked, “What do you learn in ballerina dancing?” Brantley, ” I learn ballerina’s don’t pick their nose.”

I am so glad our 30 bucks a month is paying off!

True Band Geeks

Sallie and I are such true band geeks. This week our children’s daycare has been having an Instruments theme week. The have been talking about how to write music and musical instruments. Friday’s are show and tell days and of course our kids had to bring mom & dad’s instruments. Brantley has mom’s flute and Hunter has dad’s saxophone. When we dropped them off this morning each was the coolest kid in the class because they had real instruments. We loved it.

Off to Court….

Today for a lawsuit against Birmingham City Schools. This ought to be interesting. We are told a lawsuit going this far is a first in Alabama against a school system. They are always settled outside of court. People from all over the state are calling and wanting to sit in because it is the first to go this far. Lucky for me, I get to sit next to our board attorney and help her interpret the information. I think I’ll go get my law degree so I can get the big bucks!

Dinner with Friends

Last night our friends, Paula and Andy, joined us for dinner. We grilled out and enjoyed dinner on the screened-in backporch. It was one of the most enjoyable, relaxing evenings I have shared in a very long time. We enjoyed watching the kids play, the dinner was great, and the dessert was WONDERFUL! It was an incredible evening with wonderful fellowship. God has so blessed our lives with wonderful friends!

Manly Things

Two weeks ago a tree fell in our front yard during a storm. The tree fell over the cable line in our yard. Ed called the cable company. They told him they would remove the tree. He asked if we could take care of it, they said no. If we did so and caused damage, we would be responsible for the damage. They sent a truckload of people out. Our neighbor said they got out of the truck, looked at the tree and left. We didn’t hear or see anything for another week. Ed called back. This time, it was our responsiblity to remove the tree. So, Ed was pumped. He was finally going to get to use a chain saw. After borrowing one from a neighbor, he cranked that bad boy up. It took less than 5 minutes for the men in the neighborhood to come out when they heard the hum of the chain saw. It was quite amusing.

I am pleased to report that the tree is down. No power or cable lines came down with it and everyone completed the task safely. Hunter and Riley(a friend visiting) thought cutting the tree down was “AWESOME”.
