Field Trip Day!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on June 29th, 2005 by sklteach

Today I had the opportunity to accompany Brantley’s class on their first ever field trip!!! It was to Build-A-Bear and the Carousel at the Galleria. We had a blast. The girls made a ballerina bear now named “Stellarina”. The boys made a Batman Bear now named Bat Bear.

I had a ball and hope to go soon on a field trip with Hunter!!!

Stay tuned - maybe her dad will get the pictures posted tomorrow.

Ed’s First……

Drum and Bugle Corp Competition

We took the kids and went to Sparks in the Park at Spain Park HS. Ed had never seen a DCI competition live. We all enjoyed it. Brantley wants to play flag when she grows up. Hunter liked the Cavaliers because they were firemen. Ed picked the BlueCoats and I must say I am still undecided among the BlueCoats and the Cavaliers. I think I need to see them one more time to make an educationed decision.

They mentioned something about the finals being broadcast in United Artists theatres on August 11th - I am going to have to check it out.

Good Trait or Bad?

Tonight Brantley was helping me once again with dinner. She was in charge of taking the french fries out of the bag and putting them on the cookie sheet to put them in the oven. She did this task very methodically….one french fry at a time, lined them all up in perfect rows, smallest to largest. Hunter tried to help and got reprimanded.

I don’t know if the perfectionist attitude is good or bad. I’ll get back to you in let’s say 20 years!!!!

Signs you don’t see everyday!!!

Driving down First Avenue North in Birmingham, the corner of First Ave and Oporto Madrid Blvd.

“Gold Teeth for Sale”

Took a pic with my camera phone - but you can’t make out the words. Next time I am by it - I will be better prepared to take a picture.

What is up with the birds

Posted in Uncategorized on June 24th, 2005 by sklteach

I don’t know if it is the moon or what - the birds in our neighborhood seem to think that the world wants to hear them sing ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! It has been so bad that it wakes our kids up. They have been sleeping in our room on the floor because the birds are so loud.

After talking with some of my co-workers - I have discovered it’s not just our neighborhood. It’s all over Birmingham.

What is up?

In a Land of Reruns

Last night we were surfing the channels and came across one of my all time favorite shows. I felt like a teenager again. What was it? Silver Spoons!!!! Nick at Night is celebrating their 20th anniversary and showing shows from 1985! Silver Spoons was followed by The Facts of Life - another all-time favorite of mine.

If TV could be full of classics like this again - I might actually turn the TV on when my children are in the room.

Oh the memories!

A flurry of activity

This past weekend - brought much activity at the Lawrence Household.
Friday night - Getting ready for the Yard Sale, Dinner with the Smiths, and an early visit from Dave, Leann and Olivia. And the best dessert in the world - Banana Split Pie. Ask me and I will email the recipe.

Saturday - the Yard Sale - which brought in more money than we started with, 3 truckloads of STUFF being hauled off, an afternoon of shopping with my sister-in-law (kid free) which was very nice, cooking birthday dinner for Dave and then going to bed exhausted from all the activity that day.

Sunday - Church, preparing lunch for our family (grilled steaks, grilled corn on the cob and salad - with Homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert).

It was a great Father’s Day - the kids painted pottery for their daddy. Hunter made a mug and Brantley a puppy dog cell phone holder. I missed being with my dad, but will get to see him soon!

It’s 8:00 Monday night and I am headed to bed cause I am one tired puppy!

The ride of her life

Last night the kids were assigned to clean the basement while Ed and I were pricing items for the GIGANTIC yard sale we are having this weekend. After we were finished, we all were sitting in the floor playing. Ed got Zowie, formally Sassy, out and let her crawl on the floor. Hunter thought it would be fun to let her climb in the pirate ship. She enjoyed that. Then he put her in Buzz Lightyear’s Spaceship. She didn’t really enjoy that. Then she got to ride in the Rescue Hero dune buggy. She really didn’t like that. Every time he would stop she would scurry out very quickly.

Oh boy - I can only imagine what she gets to ride in next.

Remembering….

Today would have been our dear friend, Dustin Heitschmidt’s birthday. Dustin - you are gone - but never forgotten. The thought of your smile still brings a smile to my face.

Happy Birthday and we hope you are enjoying Heaven!
