“W” was here!

Posted in Uncategorized on September 28th, 2006 by sklteach

George W was in the ham today and I figured I was 5 minutes from seeing him so I made a spur of the moment decision to go see if I could watch it land. Got on East Lake Blvd. just as they were closing the road down. I watched from VeeJay’s on the Runway (one of my favorite lunch spots - best blue cheese dressing in the world). It was so cool, his motorcade staged in front of the restaurant. He pulled out of the gate just down from where we were. Because they were staging, they were going very slow. The President’s car windows weren’t tinted that much - you could see his face. He was smiling and waving at everyone. It was so cool. I was way impressed! That’s the biggest dang airplane I have ever seen! Oh yeah - the snipers standing just over my shoulder and the 2 helicopters flying in the air - were pretty intimidating. I love W!

Look in the sky for the plane - just to the right of the tree.

Big Milestone for Miss B

Posted in Uncategorized on September 25th, 2006 by sklteach

I am very excited to share that B has learned to ride her bike all by her big girl self. No training wheels attached. I would love to take the credit for her learning this new skill all by herself - but the credit goes to Lucy from next door. She is working hard to master this skill now that she realizes she can do it. Let’s just say big brother is a little jealous - he showed us how he can ride the scooter by himself. He got mad because B could ride the bike and he couldn’t. She kept telling him - you can do it if you just try.

Oh yes - update from the battle of wills that was taking place yesterday. We could call it a win in my court, but I don’t think it actually came to that. At 2:45 Ed had enough and applied pressure to the rear side of Hunter’s body. Hunter then was sent to his room and forced to take a nap. After 2 hours of napping, Ed went to wake him up. To show us who was boss, he threw everything off his bed, covers, pillows, stuffed animals, everything! He then took off his clothes down to his skivies and slept that way. When Ed got up there - Hunter was in a ball freezing. He showed us who was boss. He’s the one who suffered. Ed says the point went in my column. I guess I will take them ever how I can get them. Question for you mom and dads out there - anyone ever get tickled when applying the rod of correction to your child? Yesterday - Ed and I both got a little tickled because of the drama surrounding the event. It was priceless. We both wondered if our parents ever got that way with us? Anyone care to comment?

Here are a couple of pictures. The first is from Hunter’s first awards program as a Tiger Cub. He got a couple of belt loop awards and a couple of beads. As you can tell from the picture, his dad is his den leader. The second is from last night. Brantley and I had a girl’s day while Hunter and his dad went to the Auburn game. This was during her princess bubble bath. It was too cute not to share.

Oh yeah - as I type, Hunter and I are having a battle of wills. He is sitting at the table alone - has been there for 30 minutes. I fix a nice Sunday dinner and he says he isn’t hungry - he just wants a snack. You know the good kind of snack - an Air Head roll up. He has mixed all of his food together and it is sitting in the middle of his plate. I informed him - he must eat everything on his plate before he can get up. It’s 1:49 now - this started at 1:15 - I will keep you posted on the outcome of this Battle of the Snack.

So that was it….

Ok - so I need some feedback on this one. Did you watch it? What did you think? I’m gonna go out on a limb here and I may be on it alone, but I was a little disappointed. No Burke until the last 5 minutes. He is one of my favorites. I hate that McDreamy told Mer he loved her. That just throws a big ole’ wrench in it. And what was up with the plague (did I spell that right?)? I mean come on - at least make it a disease that is really floating around. I guess that is the reason it is a series - to make me yearn for the next one and that I will do.

To all of you in blogland who knew I wouldn’t answer my phone last night - thanks for not calling. To my brother-in-law who did not read the blog and called anyway - sorry I hung up on you. And yes, my brownie and Dr. Pepper were very enjoyable!

It’s finally here

The night I have been waiting all summer for. The kids will be bathed, the homework complete, the kitchen cleaned up and I will have me a tall, ice cold Dr. Pepper in one hand and a warm brownie in the other. If you call between the hours of 8 and 9 this evening - I will probably ignore the ringing of the phone. It’s the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy!!!!! Oh, who will she choose (I know, I know - he’s married! - I’ll root for the vet), will Burke make it through the surgery and what’s happening with Izzie and oh yeah - George who could forget George. I don’t know when I have ever been so addicted to a show. Oh I so can’t wait!! (Too bad Ed’s working late this evening - he’s gonna miss it!)

Just posted a few of the 100+ pictures we have taken in the last 2 weeks. I am trying to get better about posting pictures out here. These are from the Auburn game, Brantley’s first soccer game, Hunter’s first game of the season and catching tadpoles and frogs.

Hope you enjoy!

Kelly Update

Posted in Uncategorized on September 13th, 2006 by sklteach

Great news from Kelly and another prayer request!

I talked to Dr. Nguyen today. We’ve got the results from the PET scan.
He said there was NO residual cancer found in the liver. He said the lung nodules were too small to be detected. That is wonderful and Dr. Nguyen was very pleased with the results.

The PET scan did find something on my left ovary that lit up. That could mean malignancy from what I’ve read about the PET scan and from what Dr. Nguyen said. But of course we don’t know yet. I will have a MRI very soon and will see a GYN specialist. Not sure of the dates as of right now.

Please keep praying!

Kelly
